Common Mistakes
Common Curly Hair Mistakes
Many people struggle with frizzy, undefined curls not because of bad products, but wrong daily habits. Check these frequent mistakes.
1. Washing hair too often
Daily shampoo strips natural oil. Curly hair needs sebum protection. Follow your curl‑type washing cycle instead.
2. Brushing dry curly hair
Dry brushing breaks curl clumps and creates massive frizz. Detangle only on wet hair with conditioner. Use wide‑tooth comb or your fingers.
3. Using very hot water
Hot water lifts hair cuticle. Hair becomes dry and frizzy. Use lukewarm for washing, cool water for final rinse.
4. Applying styling products onto dry hair
Products cannot spread well on dry strands. Result: uneven definition, heavy buildup on hair surface. Style on damp / wet hair.
5. Touching hair while drying
Keep hands away before hair is fully dry. Every touch disrupts forming curl clumps and brings frizz.
6. Too much product or too little product
Too little: no definition. Too much: heavy, greasy curls, build‑up. Start with small amount, add more gradually section‑by‑section.
7. Ignoring hair porosity
Same product performs differently on high‑porosity vs low‑porosity hair. Always consider both curl pattern AND porosity when you shop hair care goods.
Avoid these bad habits, you will see obvious improvement for your natural curls.
